About your facilitators
Heidi
Heidi is an ecology researcher and made her first contact with clay in 2018. Since then, she has been highly fascinated by this beautiful gift from the soil and everything related to working with clay. Shortly after taking ceramics classes at The Crafter's Corner in Stellenbosch, Heidi started to help in the studio to learn more. Since beginning of 2019 year, she took over the management of the studio and is running ceramics sessions within a community project as well as for private students. Heidi has a strong interest in mindfulness practices, including yoga and meditation, and how these can be combined with art activities to facilitate stress reduction, personal growth and healing. Together with her friend Barbara, Heidi developed these interests further into several retreats and workshops that the two of them hosted together.
Barbara
Whilst studying conservation ecology, Barbara completed her first yoga training in 2011, under the guidance of The Sacred School of Arts. Since then she has explored and shared yoga in various locations around South Africa and now runs a small studio from her home in the Lynedoch Ecovillage, Stellenbosch. Barbara’s interest in the link between yoga, creativity, and emotional well-being has led her to connect with Heidi, her friend, teacher, and colleague, and together they have hosted a number of retreats and developed various creativity and mindfulness programs and workshops. Barbara believes that each person has their own inner healing centre, the body’s draw to equilibrium and creativity, and at the core of her yoga teaching lies a deep reverence for our connection to Nature, our greatest teacher.
