23 - 25 Nov 2018 | The Self Compassion Break Retreat at Temenos with Karen Nebe

Updated: Mar 8, 2020

“If your compassion does not include yourself , it is incomplete.” ~ Jack Kornfield. Is it easier for you to show kindness to others rather than yourself? Are you hard on yourself most of the time? Most of us are able to feel compassion for a close friend who is struggling. What would it be like to receive the same caring attention from yourself? What is required is a shift in attention - recognising that as a human being you are also worthy of compassion. Many people criticise themselves in the belief that it will help motivate them to achieve their goals. This actually has the opposite effect. Self-criticism activates our threat response which then creates more stress and anxiety and orientates us towards the “negative”. Research has shown that practicing mindful self-compassion decreases stress, anxiety, depression and is essential to cultivating resilience and a more fulfilling life . ME-TIME is not a luxury - it is a necessity. During this weekend you will reconnect to self, community and nature through creativity, conversation and mindful self-compassion exercises . You will leave feeling nurtured and more centred - with practical tools which will enable you to generate more capacity to engage in this ever-changing world.

NO ART EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY.
