Open the Heart and Still the Mind:
Healing and Transformation through Meditation
with
Sue Cooper
13 April 2018 @ 5pm – 15 April @ 2pm
(with optional free accommodation on Sunday 15th)
Venue: Temenos, MdcGregor
This ‘Open the Heart and Still the Mind’ weekend retreat will be held in a contained and nurturing atmosphere of contemplative silence and is suitable for beginner as well as experienced meditators.
Drawing on the wisdom of Buddhist psychology, we will discover how to rest in silence, grounded by an awareness that is embodied and fully present. This allows us to transform our habitual tendency of bracing against life to an open-hearted and compassionate embracing of our human experience. This process facilitates the healing of old wounds and the emergence of inner peace, wholeness and greater joy in our lives.
In addition to sitting and walking meditations, our embodied awareness will be enhanced by daily sessions of the ancient movement meditation qigong , optional yoga and aromatherapy massages. There will be time to explore the beautiful gardens of Temenos, as well as time for restorative rest and short, individual sessions will provide additional emotional containment. Delicious vegetarian and vegan food will be savoured in silence as part of our integrated practice. This retreat ends with lunch on Sunday 15th and includes free accommodation on Sunday night for those who would like to extend their stay for an overnight self-retreat.
