11 - 13 Dec 2020 | The Self Compassion Break Retreat at Temenos with Karen Nebe

Updated: Dec 19, 2020

Hope is the belief that circumstances will get better. It's not a wish for things to get better - it's the actual belief, the inner knowing that things will get better, no matter how big or small.

In the face of significant challenges and losses along our journey, hope is the mood in which we hold a commitment to possibility. Hope is not passive; it is living and breathing. It is at the core of who we are. This is an invitation to honour our human capacity for hope.

Come into stillness and do some internal work - breathe, meditate, move gently, declare yourself a learner and immerse yourself in a creative process that will help you gain clarity on what is truly important to you. Re-connect with your true essence. And most importantly, do this with selfcompassion.

In a nurturing environment Karen gently nudges and steers the art-making. She draws on inspiration from nature and its elements, stories, poetry and other stimuli. The emphasis is on the experience of creating, developing and reflecting through the artwork and not on the finished product. An invitation to let go of expectations and be curious about whatever emerges.

Feedback From Some Previous Participants

“I really enjoyed the way you arranged the dance between the art and the selfcompassion, how you gently led the processes and were so authentic and vulnerable yourself.” ~ BB

“I loved the way Karen led the entire retreat, she was inclusive, she made sure everyone was following, the way she set out the space was outstanding”. ~ SN

“The art-making processes were extremely helpful in my personal journey. The way in which the activities themselves were thought out created a flow and development process. The

interaction between the group was inspiring and completely pure and beautiful.” ~ ERL

“Your gift is that you make each of us feel safe and you are emotionally intelligent enough to encourage each of us, with our vastly different personalities, to be open to each other.” ~ GW

Charmaine Horsburgh is a Yoga practitioner who met her teacher, Swami Venkatesananda of Rishikesh, India in the early 1970’s and began a lifelong journey of yoga study, practice and investigation. The culture of learning which Swamiji encouraged has led her to constantly be looking for ways to deepen and inform her own practice and teaching skills.
